Cet article est l’aboutissement d’un long cheminement autour de la pratique personnelle de la pierre sèche de Louis Cagin.

En mai 2018, au Vieil-Audon en Ardèche, à l’invitation de Maya Ravéreau pour le réseau Écobâtir, il introduit le concept comme expression radicale du vernaculaire, thème des journées d’étude.

En 2022, l’invitation de Robert Carvais (CNRS, CTAD ; président de l’Association francophone d’histoire de la construction) https://www.histoireconstruction.fr/ au séminaire d’histoire de la construction, co-organisé par Hélène Dessales (ENS-AOROC / UNIL) et Jean-Pierre Van Staevel (Université Paris 1 – Panthéon Sorbonne), permet de présenter une « Analyse, à hauteur de chantier, d’un aménagement paysager historique en pierre sèche », le Jardin Clos du Pré Nouveau, commune d’Arcens en Ardèche. Cette communication est issue des travaux réalisés par l’association Une pierre sur l’autre au Jardin Clos du Pré Nouveau à Arcens (Ardèche). Elle a abouti à une publication avec Lise Madec dans le n° 13 de la revue Ædificare https://classiques-garnier.com/aedificare.html

Giovanni Stranieri https://artehis.ube.fr/membres/stranieri-giovanni/ participe également à ce séminaire et organise peu après les deuxièmes Journées d’Études de la SFR ALLHiS, Université de Saint-Étienne, les 16 et 17 novembre 2022 ; développées autour du thème ; Les paysages ruraux : un objet d’étude et une source pour les sciences de l’homme et de la société ; Les structures de l’organisation et de l’appropriation de l’espace. Ce sera l’occasion de peaufiner le concept par la présentation « Le concept d’autochtonie, une notion fondamentale pour la compréhension du parcellaire historique des paysages lithiques »

L’article de la revue Ædificare a donné l’occasion d’une mise à jour plus complète et aboutie de la réflexion sur ce concept et sur ses implications dans le domaine des techniques d’aménagement paysagers agraires.

This communication is the result of work carried out by the association Une pierre sur l’autre at the Jardin Clos du Pré Nouveau in Arcens (Ardèche). Giovanni Stranieri https://artehis.ube.fr/membres/stranieri-giovanni/ is also participating in this seminar and will shortly thereafter organize the second SFR ALLHiS Study Days, University of Saint-Étienne, on November 16 and 17, 2022; developed around the theme: Rural Landscapes: An Object of Study and a Source for the Human and Social Sciences; The Structures of the Organization and Appropriation of Space. This will be an opportunity to refine the concept through the presentation "The Concept of Autochthony, a Fundamental Notion for Understanding the Historical Division of Lithic Landscapes."
